Kyle Allen and Jason Jackson had 15 and 14 points, respectively, to lead HPU who played UH close for most of the first half. Allen's basket with 1:33 remaining in the period cut the lead to 28-26, but a quick 9-0 run to close the half gave UH a 37-26 lead at the break.

Hawai'i scored the game's first eight points, but HPU responded to take a brief 15-14 lead. UH retook the lead but a Kameron Steinhoff (3 pts, 3 reb) three-pointer cut the lead to 24-22.
