Men’s Basketball Falls To Alaska-Fairbanks

Fairbanks, AK (12/4/10) – At the Glacier Classic, the HPU men's basketball team fell to host University of Alaska-Fairbanks, 91-77. HPU falls to 3-3 while UAF improves to 2-3.

Four Sea Warriors finished in double figures led by Royal Edwards who posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Adrian den Dulk recorded 17 points on 7-12 shooting and Nick Frazier added 13 points off the bench.

UAF's Parrish West led all scorers with 33 points.

HPU trailed early in the game but rallied to take a 43-42 lead at halftime. The Sea Warriors trailed 15-9 but a pair of jumpers by Kameron Steinhoff and a lay in by LaBrent Chappell gave HPU a 20-19 lead. Steinhoff finished with seven points and Chappell added six points, six rebounds, and four assists.

The Sea Warriors were outscored by 15 points in the second half, unable to sink their first basket for nearly the first seven minutes of the half.

HPU lost despite a 34-7 advantage in bench scoring.

The Sea Warriors next take the court at the Hawai'i Challenge. HPU plays Chaminade this Thursday, December 9, at 5:00 p.m. The games will take place at the Canon Activities Center on the campus of BYU-Hawaii.
