Kaneohe, HI (11/7/09) – At Atherton Field, the HPU women's soccer team fell to BYU-Hawai'i, 3-1. The match was the season finale for the Lady Sea Warriors, who finish at 10-8-1 overall and 8-6 in the PacWest. The Lady Seasiders improve to 15-3 overall and 12-2 in conference.
HPU opened the scoring with a goal in the 25th minute.
Dyanne Anderson beat BYUH keeper Becky Ploeger to a loose ball and laid it back to
KaUa Wall. Wall shot the ball to the far side netting for the 1-0 lead. The equalizer from BYUH came 10 minutes later, as Margaret Sekona followed up a save by HPU keeper
Carianne Makino. The two teams entered halftime tied at 1-1. BYUH added goals in the 68th and 70th minutes to secure the win. Makino and Ploeger each recorded seven saves.
After the match, the HPU seniors were honored for their contributions to the Sea Warrior women's soccer program.
