Women’s Soccer Too Much For Chaminade

Honolulu (9/16/10) – At Saint Louis Field, the HPU women's soccer team defeated Chaminade, 4-0. HPU improves to 1-3 on the season while Chaminade falls to 0-3. The match was the PacWest opener for both teams.

The Lady Sea Warriors scored a pair of goals in each half as they outshot the Swords, 22-2. Meghan Fuller (Pearl City, HI) netted HPU's first two goals, with her second resulting from a Chloe Maeshiro (Pearl City, HI) corner kick.

In the second half, Mairiead Bretney (San Diego, CA) put the game away with a goal in the 52nd minute, and then assisted on KaUa Wall (Kealakekua, HI)'s goal in the 68th minute.

Carianne Makino (Honolulu, HI) and Yasmina Taketa (Honolulu, HI) combined for the shutout for HPU. Makino started in goal before being spelled by Taketa with just less than 20 minutes remaining in the match.

Marissa Minor recorded 10 saves in net for the Swords.

HPU next takes on BYU-Hawaii this Saturday, September 18. Start time at Atherton Field is set for 3:00 p.m.
