Kaneohe, HI (9/25/10) – At Atherton Field, the HPU women's soccer team defeated Academy of Art University, 4-0. The Sea Warriors improve to 2-1 in the PacWest and 2-4 overall, while the Urban Knights drop to 0-4 in conference and 1-4-1 overall.
Meghan Fuller (Pearl City, HI) led the way with two goals. She scored HPU's second goal in 12th minute before increasing HPU's lead just minutes later. Jacqueline Ho (Honolulu, HI) scored the final goal of the match in the 24th minute, as HPU coasted the rest of the way.
Carianne Makino (Honolulu, HI) posted six saves before being spelled by Joy Nakahara (Honolulu, HI) in the 70th minute. Hana Klimek recorded three saves in the first half for AAU with substitute keeper Melissa Coe posting four saves.
Yasmina Taketa (Honolulu, HI) opened the scoring in the eighth minute. She took a through pass from KaUa Wall (Kealakekua, HI)l and fired a far-post shot past Klimek to record the game-winner.
HPU outshot the Urban Knights 18-9.
The Sea Warriors next travel to the mainland for a four-game road trip. First up will be Dixie State College this Thursday, September 30. Kick off in St. George, Utah is set for 7:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time.
