HPU Women’s Soccer Falls To Cal State East Bay

Sea Warriors drop second overtime match of the season

Waipahu, HI (9/2/10) – At Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park, the HPU women's soccer team fell in overtime to Cal State East Bay, 1-0. HPU drops its first two matches of the season while CSUEB wins its season opener.

The Sea Warriors dropped a 1-0 overtime defeat for the second time this season. Near the close of the first overtime period, Shianna Falk dribbled through the center of the HPU defense and slotted her shot to the far post beyond the outstretched hand of HPU goalkeeper Carianne Makino.

Makino recorded four saves on the afternoon, with East Bay keeper Donna Williams posting one save.

Amber Fuller was active on the Sea Warrior attack, notching four of HPU's six shots. In the first half, her strike just outside the penalty area hit the inside of the right post and bounced back into play. The East Bay defense promptly cleared the ball out of the area.

HPU returns to action Saturday, September 11, versus Seattle Pacific University. Start time at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium is set for 6:00 p.m.
