Honolulu, HI (October 13, 2011) – The Hawai'i Pacific women's soccer team defeated Chaminade 4-0 in an away game played just four miles from HPU's campus. HPU is now 8-2-2 overall and 5-1-2 in PacWest play.
The teams battled for 42 scoreless minutes, but just before the half,
KaUa Wall gave HPU the lead. Wall, the reining PacWest Player of the Week, took the rebound off the post and scored. HPU would continue the scoring in the second half with three more goals. In the 58th minute, PacWest Preseason Player of the Year,
Meghan Fuller, scored her first goal of the season. Wall was again involved, this time as the facilitator, also her first assist of the year. Fuller scored again about nine minutes later off an assist from
Liana Gualdarama.
Sanoe Souza's fourth goal of the campaign capped the day's scoring, Souza found the back of the net on a penalty kick.
HPU outshot Chaminade 16-4 and led in corner kicks 6-1.
Carianne Makino posted her sixth shutout of the season, making one save.
HPU next hosts Cal Baptist; CBU currently sits in second place in the conference behind HPU. The match will take place on Monday at Atherton Field at 12:30 PM.
