Riverside, CA (October 20, 2011) – The Hawai'i Pacific volleyball team lost to California Baptist in the first meeting between the two schools as members of the PacWest. HPU fell 3-1 (21-25, 21-25, 25-16, 19-25).
CBU took the lead early in the first set, 9-3. HPU trailed in the late stages 24-17, but reeled off the next four points before falling. Down two sets the Sea Warriors did not quit, they pulled away from a 4-4 tie to gain a cushion, leading by five or more most of the set. A slow start also hampered HPU in the fourth.
