Personal: Born in San Jose, California...parents are Maribeth and Delfin Pelayo...has two sisters, Roz (33) and Melanie (31)...enjoys going to the beach, sleeping, and shopping...favorites are sushi, ice cream, french fries and the movie Mean Girls...in 10 years would like to be a grade school teacher...came to HPU because of the location and class environment.
Prior To HPU: A graduate of Saint Francis High School in Mountain View, California where she lettered in volleyball under Coach Kim Oden. The team advanced to the Nor Cal final twice. Pelayo was the captain of 18’s club team.
HPU: Begins fourth season.
2010: Named PacWest Libero of the Year, Selected to the All-Region First Team, PacWest First Team, and 2nd Team All-American. Played in 24 matches...posted a team high of 598 digs, a new school record...averaged 6.72 per set, ranking her 3rd in the country...also recorded one kill and 26 aces on the season.
2009: Played in 25 matches, starting two...posted 352 digs on the season good for tops on the team and fifth in the PacWest...averaged 3.52 kills per game, also a team high...recorded 15 matches with double figures in digs, including a 45-dig performace versus Dixie State College (10/21), seven off the HPU single-match record...named PacWest Honorable Mention.
2008: Played in 72 games and 21 matches...was third on the team with 2.01 digs per game...also posted two kills, 10 assists, and four services aces on the season.
