Box Score Honolulu, HI (November 24, 2011) – The Hawai'i Pacific men's basketball team turned in a dominating performance in its Thanksgiving Day win over Alaska-Fairbanks, 74-60.
Fran Urli feasted on UAF's defense scoring a game-high 17 points on 8-9 shooting.
HPU controlled most of the game, trailing only once at 3-4 in the game's opening minutes. By the 11:38 mark of the first half, HPU's lead had grown to 11 after two free throws from
Marko Cukic. HPU would lead by as many as 25 in the first half and headed to the locker room with a 45-22 advantage. The second half would see the Sea Warriors take a 27 point lead before closing out the victory.
HPU had nine players play double figure minutes with
Kyle Allen leading the way with 29 minutes.
Nick Frazier and
Kyle Allen each scored nine points while
LaBrent Chappell had eight. Allen and
Jelany White each had five rebounds. Allen also posted five assists.
HPU shot the ball exceedingly well, going 28-50 (56%) from the floor. The three-pointer was also a weapon for the Sea Warriors who shot 10-16 (63%). The foul stripe was also kind, seeing HPU go 8-10 (80%). HPU held UAF to 21-48 (44%) from the field. HPU also owned a 29-24 advantage on the glass.
The Sea Warriors are now 1-3 on the season as UAF falls to 1-5 on the season.
