LaBrent Chappell scored 18 points, but it was not enough as Hawai'i Pacific fell 68-65 to Chaminade at McCabe Gym. HPU falls to 6-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Sean Jones added a spark off the bench with 11 points.
Kyle Allen turned in another complete game with seven points, eight rebounds and four assists. Allen led the Sea Warriors in rebounds and assists.
Jelany White added eight points, including two three point hits.
HPU grabbed a 42-33 halftime lead but couldn't hold it. HPU's shooting percentage dropped from 46% (13-28) in the first half to 28% (7-25) in the second half. Chaminade won the rebound battle 34-31 and had two less turnovers. HPU was nearly perfect from the line going 19-21 (91%).
Chaminade improves to 2-0 in conference and 4-5 overall. The 'Swords were led by Wally Coulibaly and Matt Cousins who each had 16 points.
HPU returns to action on January 10th against BYU-Hawai'i at 7 PM at the Neal Blaisdell Center. The game can be seen on K5.
