Honolulu, HI (October 17, 2012) - The scoring drought continued for the Hawai'i Pacific (5-5-2, 5-2-2) men's soccer team, but it fought to a scoreless draw against Chaminade (2-8-2, 2-6-2).
Alejandro Porras was able to register 10 shots while
Kimo Komomua triggered four in the match for the Sea Warriors.
The lack of scoring for the Sea Warriors had little to do with a lack of chances as they dominated the 'Swords in shots throughout the match, including a 12-1 advantage in the first half, 9-1 in the second half and 6-1 in the overtime periods. Porras was able to record six shots on goals himself while Chaminade did not register its only shot on goal until the 96th minute. Chaminade's defense was bolstered by keeper Connor Knox who was able to stop a remarkable 13 Sea Warrior shots.
“We obviously could not finish today. They put 11 players behind the ball. The longer the game went without a goal the more frustrated we became, with frustration came a lack of focus. The fight I was waiting to see never arrived today,” said head coach
Chris Fisher.
The Sea Warriors return to the pitch on October 20th when they host BYU-Hawaii at Atherton Field; game time is 12:30 PM.
