Kaneohe, HI (September 22, 2012) – The Hawai'i Pacific (3-4, 2-1) women's soccer team remained perfect at home, defeating Chaminade (0-5, 0-3) by the score of 3-0.
Andrea Aguirre scored two goals and
Kiana Kaiwi picked up her third shutout of the season for the Sea Warriors.
The scoring started in the 34th minute after
Ashlyn Ubongen found an open Aguirre who tucked the ball just inside the right post to make the score 1-0. Aguirre would find the back of the net again just 3:52 later, heading in a rebound that came off the crossbar pushing the score to 2-0. HPU would take the 2-0 lead to the half holding the edge in shots 14-0.
HPU kept its foot on the gas in the second half adding an insurance goal in the 67th minute when
KaUa Wall sent a laser from the 18 yard box that beat Silversword keeper Lauren Ishii, who made 13 saves in the losing effort. The final buzzer would sound with the score at 3-0 and HPU dominating the stat sheet in shots 24-1, corner kicks 9-1 and shots on goal 16-1. Aguirre and
Sanoe Souza led the way for HPU with six shots a piece.
The Sea Warriors return to action on September 27th against Fresno Pacific at Atherton Field. Game time is 3 PM.
