Box Score HONOLULU, HI (November 9, 2013)—The Hawai`i Pacific Men's Soccer Team (8-5-4, 6-3-3) closed its 2013 campaign with a 2-2 tie against Chaminade (0-15-1, 0-11-1) on Saturday afternoon. The game was called due to darkness with 4:25 left to play in the second overtime.
The Sea Warriors struck first during the rain soaked affair after
Alejandro Porras found
Brais Garcia who tucked the ball inside the far post from 20 yards out in the 12
th minute.
Chaminade answered in the 35
th minute with a goal to tie the match at one.
Just before halftime the Sea Warriors caught a break, after the Silverswords were called for an intentional handball that resulted in a red card. The 'Swords would be forced to finish the match a man short.
HPU dominated play in the second half, registering 17 shots versus CUH's six.
The Columbia Blue and Kelly Green finally broke the tie in the 71
st minute when
Olivier Rolland headed an
Erik Kemsies corner kick into the back of the net to take a 2-1 lead.
With just 1:15 left in regulation, and down a man, Chaminade found the equalizer to send the match into overtime.
Like they did in the second period HPU kept the pressure on, outshooting CUH 8-2 in overtime, but after a late start time and the women's game also going to overtime, the game was called with just over four minutes left on the clock due to darkness.
HPU finished the match with a 30-12 advantage in shots including a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal.
Garcia led the way with one goal on nine shots while Kemsies finished with six shots to go along with his assist.
