Boswell Pitches Shutout, Women’s Soccer Rolls

Box Score

KANEOHE, HI (September 17, 2013) – The Hawai'i Pacific Women's Soccer Team (2-1) got back to its winning ways, defeating Chaminade (0-4) 2-0 in a dominate non-conference performance at Atherton Field.

The Sea Warriors put shots on goal early and often, but strong play from the Silversword keeper kept the game scoreless through much of the first half.

Hawai'i Pacific finally broke through in the 45th minute when sophomore Erika Ellis sent a cross to the far post that was chested in from point blank range by Ashlyn Ubongen. The goal would be the only tally for either side in the first half.

After the break it was Ellis again setting up the action, finding Lexi Cameau who spun and sent a laser to the top left portion of the net from just inside 18 yards. Cameau's goal was her second of the year and was more than HPU needed, as it was content to play tight defense for the remainder of the game.

The Sea Warriors held a 19-6 advantage in shots, including a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal. Sophomore Kelby Boswell was perfect in net stopping three balls to earn her second shutout of the year.

Hawai'i Pacific returns to action on Saturday in a non-conference matchup against BYU-Hawaii at Atherton Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m
