Men's Soccer Scores Early and Often vs. Red Storm

Box Score ST. GEORGE, UT (September 28, 2013)—The Hawai'i Pacific Men's Soccer Team (3-2-1, 1-0) hit the ground running in St. George, earning a dominating 5-1 victory over Dixie State University (1-4, 0-3-1). Brais Garcia scored three goals for Hawai'i Pacific in the win.

Garcia put the Sea Warriors on the board early with an unassisted goal in the 13th minute. The senior doubled his season goal total with his second of the game just three and half minutes later on a beautiful shot off a feed from freshman Erik Kemsies.

Pacific West Conference leading goal scorer Felipe Silva added two tallies of his own for HPU in the 19th and 39th minutes to give HPU a 4-0 lead and the route was on.

The Columbia Blue and Kelly Green held a commanding 10-2 advantage in shots on goal in the first half, with Silva leading the way by putting all five of his shots on net.

The Sea Warriors kept their foot on the gas pedal in the second half when Kemsies and Garcia hooked up for the second time, giving the Spaniard his hat trick in the 51st minute. Dixie State would break up the shut out on a penalty kick in the 81st minute, but the damage had been done and the Sea Warriors coasted to the 5-1 victory.

Kemsies finished the match with a season-high three assists while Silva added an assist to go along with his two goals. HPU also held the 12-6 advantage in shots on goal.

After the match Head Coach Chris Fisher commented on his team's strong start to PacWest play, "We came out hot. The boys were clicking and enjoying the game. The chemistry was there. Tonight was a great start to conference play and the road trip."

The Sea Warriors now head to Southern California to face Azusa Pacific on September 30th. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PST.
