Women's Soccer Falls to Red Storm

Box Score ST. GEORGE, UT (September 28, 2013)—The Hawai'i Pacific Women's Soccer Team (2-4, 0-1) opened Pacific West Conference play with a 2-0 loss to Dixie State University (3-3, 3-1) in St. George, Utah on Saturday. The game was the first of a four game mainland road trip for the Sea Warriors.
 
Both sides played even in the first half with DSU holding a slight 9-7 advantage in shots. Sea Warrior keeper Anu Kahele-Manners was solid in goal; making five saves in the first half. Senior Andrea Aguirre led the way for HPU taking four of the Sea Warriors seven first half shots.
 
It was the Red Storm who got on the board first in the second half beating the HPU keeper off a breakaway in traffic. Hawai'i Pacific nearly answered with a header by Ashlyn Ubongen in the 53rd minute, but the Red Storm keeper made the save. DSU would add the final goal of the match in the 54th minute leaving HPU with a 2-0 defeat.
 
Kahele-Manners finished the game with seven saves. Aguirre finished with six shots while forward Lexi Cameau added two of her own.
 
The Sea Warriors will now head to Southern California to face Azusa Pacific on September 30th. Kick off is scheduled for 5 p.m. PST.
