Lexi Cameau scored the lone goal for the Sea Warriors in the non-conference tilt.
HPU controlled play for much of the first half, outshooting the Silverswords 7-3. After several close calls, the Sea Warriors finally broke through in the 31st minute when
Breanna Gaddis found a streaking Cameau, who ripped a right-footed shot inside the left post.
HPU nearly added to its lead in the second half when
Vanna Hatchie found the head of
Erika Ellis who sent the ball just over the bar. Like the first half, the Sea Warriors maintained the shot advantage finishing the game with a 13-7 advantage.
Sophomore
Kelby Boswell stopped all six of Chaminade's shots on goal.
In all, nine Sea Warriors made their debut in an HPU uniform, including four freshmen.
Cameau, who switched positions from midfield to forward this season, evaluated her team's performance, " This was a great way to start the season. This year we have the best team chemistry since I've been here and it shows with how well we connect with our passes."
The Sea Warriors are back in action on Saturday, September 7th, against California State San Bernardino at Atherton Field; kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
