Box Score FAIRBANKS, Alaska (November 13, 2015) – The Hawaii Pacific men's basketball team struggled to the tune of 33.8 percent shooting from the field and fell 96-77 to host Alaska Anchorage to tip off the GNAC/PacWest Crossover tournament and its regular season on Alaska Airlines Court.

The Sharks (0-1) fell behind 25-15 midway through the first period after shooting 25 percent (5-for-20) from the floor to start the game. The visitors started to heat up, though, and coupled stingy defense with a 7-0 run to chip away at the Nanook lead. However, Alaska Fairbanks countered with a 14-0 run shortly before halftime to establish a comfortable cushion that it would not relinquish.
On a positive note, HPU converted 22 of its 25 free-throw attempts and made nine 3-pointers.
The Nanooks (1-0) shot a blistering 58.9 percent from the field and received a game-high 22 points from Travante Williams.
HPU returns to action on Saturday to face Alaska Anchorage at 4:15 p.m. Hawaii time.
