Box Score LAIE, Hawaii (December 16, 2015) – The Hawaii Pacific women's basketball team remained undefeated in PacWest Conference action on the heels of a convincing 57-42 victory over BYU-Hawaii at the Cannon Activities Center.
The Sharks (5-4 overall, 3-0 PacWest) received a game-high 15 points from
Cece Pearl, who hit three treys and notched a double-double with 10 rebounds. Sophomore
Breanna Mackenzie also posted a double-double effort with 12 points, 10 rebounds and a team-leading five assists, while teammate
Brianne Yasukochi racked up 14 points, six boards, four assists and two steals at the guard position.
The Seasiders (3-4, 0-2) were led by Valerie Nawahine's 13 points.
HPU, which finished a program-best 25-5 last season and made it to the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, out-rebounded the opposition 50-38 and forced 17 turnovers. While the Sharks struggled shooting the ball as a team to the tune of 33.3 percent (18-for-54) from the field, BYU-Hawaii were limited to just 21.8 percent (12-for-55) from field goal range.
The Sharks have a quick turnaround and return to the hardwood on Thursday to face Truman State in the Oahu Christmas Classic at Saint Francis School at 11 a.m.
