HONOLULU (December 19, 2015) – The Hawaii Pacific men's basketball team started its holiday break on a positive note via an 83-76 victory over third-ranked NAIA Division-I Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University as part of the Hoops in Hawaii Classic at Moanalua High School.

The Sharks (5-4 overall, 1-2 PacWest) were led by a game-high 18 points from senior forward Luke Hager (6-for-11 from the field). Chauncey Orr posted a double-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists, while Joel Feigler accounted for 14 points and eight boards. Connor Looney notched 16 points off the bench and converted on all eight of his free throws to help clinch the victory down the stretch.

Feigler, Orr and Looney hit two treys apiece as HPU connected on nine-of 25 attempts from behind the 3-point arc. The Sharks relied on their reserves, who combined outscored the opposition 27-4.

HPU took a 47-36 halftime lead thanks in part to 14 first-half points from Hager, including a deuce via a sweet alley-oop dunk. The Sharks shot nearly 55 percent from the floor in the first frame.

The Lions (10-2, 4-0 American Midwest Conference) received 17 points apiece from Evan Forhetz and Isaiah Harrison. Trevor Randolph and Orlando Bass chipped in 15 points apiece.

The Sharks return to nonconference action against visiting Viterbo (Wis.) University on Dec. 30 at Moanalua High School at 6:30 p.m.
