Box Score HONOLULU (February 20, 2016) – Despite receiving double-figure scoring efforts from five players, the Hawaii Pacific men's basketball team fell to UH Hilo, 87-84, in a wild PacWest Conference matchup at Moanalua High School.
The Sharks (17-8 overall, 12-6 PacWest) received a balanced scoring attack from
Jordan Martin (20 points),
Connor Looney (17 points),
Chauncey Orr (12 points),
Luke Hager and
Elliott DeFreitas (10 points apiece).
However, the Vulcans (8-14, 8-10) received a game-high 38 points from Salim Gloyd, who also led the way with 10 rebounds. Hilo's Nate Walker added 22 points and Parker Farris poured in 18 as the trio of Vulcans combined to score 78 of the squad's 87 points.
Martin also led the squad with 7 rebounds and 3 assists, but made just one-of-two free throws with four seconds remaining in the game; had he made both, the score would have been tied at 85 and the contest could have continued in overtime.
HPU senior post player
Joel Feigler finished with 7 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and a block and has now blocked 40 shots in the last 17 games. The Las Vegas native and Central Arkansas transfer is averaging 11.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game this season.
HPU returns to Moanalua High School for a tilt against Point Loma on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m.
