Joel Feigler, the Hawaii Pacific men's basketball team picked up momentum in anticipation of the postseason via an 80-58 victory over cross-island rival BYU-Hawaii in the PacWest Conference regular-season finale at Moanalua High School.
The Sharks (19-8 overall, 14-6 PacWest) honored three seniors prior to the game, including Feigler, who made 9-of-10 shots and two treys, while also pulling down two rebounds and blocking two shots. Fellow seniors
Luke Hager (11 points, 5 rebounds) and
Chauncey Orr (8 points, 8 rebounds) also played their last home games in HPU uniforms.
The Sharks have already clinched a berth in the PacWest's six-team postseason tournament, but will wait for the results of four more conference games this evening to determine their final seeding. The tourney runs March 3-5 in Irvine, Calif., and tickets are currently available at www.ThePacWest.com.
Connor Looney turned in a productive performance with 19 points and two 3-pointers, while fellow guard
Jordan Martin chipped in 5 points and 7 assists.
Feigler, a Las Vegas native and Central Arkansas transfer, is averaging 11.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game this season. Orr, a transfer from Bowling Green, has performed well in his first season with the Sharks and has notched 13.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and a steal per game. Hager, a second-year Shark via UNC Wilmington, is scoring 13.1 points per game while pulling down 6 rebounds per contest.
The Seasiders (14-11, 11-9) received 22 points from Scott Friel, and will also play in the PacWest tournament.
