LAIE, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific University scored with just under 10 minutes left in regulation and ended with a 1-1 tie with cross-island rival BYU-Hawaii at the BYUH Soccer Field Saturday afternoon.
 
The Sharks and the Seasiders are now at 0-2-1 for the season.
 
Junior 
Sara Romo scored the Sharks first goal of the season in the 81st minute of play when she beat BYUH keeper Jaylie Jensen on the only shot Jensen faced.
 
BYU-Hawaii got the first goal of the game in the 21st minute from Brena Jarvis Love who got a pass from Kala Brundige for the score.
 
It was the only goal allowed by HPU sophomore goalkeeper 
Lauren Spencer who also recorded two saves in the first half of play. Shark senior 
Alannah John entered at the start of the second half and carried a clean sheet through the overtimes as BYUH didn't have a shot on goal after the half.
 
HPU is in action again next weekend in Portland, Ore., as the Sharks visit Concordia-Portland next Friday and face St. Martin's in a neutral site contest in Portland on Sunday.
