WAIPAHU, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific University saw Point Loma score in the 86th minute and grab a 3-2 win over the Sharks in PacWest Conference play Thursday evening at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
The Sharks (4-7, 2-4) lost for the first time in three contests inside the Waipio Stadium, while the Sea Lions (9-5, 5-2) won their third straight and ran their road record to 4-0.
HPU did not trail in the game until the 86th minute when Parker Scalzo headed in Tim Siegfried's corner kick to put PLNU up 3-2. The Sea Lions held their ground after that.
The Sharks had the early advantage when senior to senior
Tom Karshuening of Satrup, Germany/Gymnasium Walsrode got his first goal of the season off a corner kick from junior
Luiz Garcia of Campo Grande, Brazil / Colegio Salesiano Dom Bosco and a pass from senior
Jordan Coxall of Chester, England/Christleton in the 14th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
HPU held that advantage through halftime.
In the 53rd minute, the Sea Lions got on the scoreboard when Teague Anderson recovered the ball from a scrum with an open net to even the match at 1-1.
The Sharks responded with a score in the 70th minute, when
Isac Mansson took advantage of a PLNU mistake to score on a quick shot for a 2-1 lead.
Following the goal, Point Loma took advantage of a quick restart that caused a foul in the penalty area. Just 13 seconds after HPU took the lead, PLNU's Tim Siegfried scored his 14th goal of the season on a penalty kick that knotted the score at 2-all.
The game appeared to be headed for overtime when the Sea Lions got the corner kick for the game winner.

Max Austli of Gothenburg, Sweden recorded seven saves with the three goals in facing 12 Sea Lion shots.
Point Loma's Wiktor Lasota picked up two saves with the two goals allowed in facing 15 HPU shots.
HPU visits the Big Island on Saturday to meet Hawai'i Hilo in a PacWest Conference game that's a part of the PacWest Hawai'i Challenge. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. at Kamehameha Schools field in Keaau.
