IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University's Lukas Motschmann and Jona Bodirsky were once again honored with PacWest Conference Men's Cross Country weekly awards for their outstanding performance by the league office.
 
Motschmann, a senior from Magdeburg, Germany/Sportgymnasium, was chosen the PacWest Conference Runner of the Week for the second time in 2019 after winning the individual title at the HPU Invitational and leading the Sharks to the team championship. Motschmann ran the 8-kilometer course in 25 minutes, 54.8 seconds in picking up his third individual championship this season.
 
Bodirsky, of Muhlhausen, Germany/Leibniz Gymnasium Ostringen, collected his fourth PacWest Conference Freshman of the Week award as he placed second to Motschmann at the HPU Invitational. Bodirsky covered the path at the Kahuku Golf Course in 26:49.5 in helping to 17 points with a 1-2-3-4-7 finish.
 
Joining the HPU men with PacWest weekly awards are Point Loma's Zita Molnar as Women's Runner of the Week and PLNU's Patricia Hopkins as Women's Freshman of the Week.
 
The Sharks run again on Saturday in the Hawai'i Hilo Invitational. The races start at 7:30 a.m. at the Naniloa Golf Course in Hilo.
