WAIPAHU, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific University snapped a five-game losing skid in a grand way on Monday night, beating Academy of Art 4-1 in PacWest Conference action at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
The Sharks (5-8-2, 3-6-1) dominated the attack and fired at will against the Urban Knights (1-14-1, 0-9-1) but did not put the game away until the latter stages.
Junior Garrit Arzberger of Munich, Germany, scored twice for the Sharks, bringing his goal total to nine for the season. Senior
Luiz Garcia of Campo Grande, Brazil, added a goal and an assist, with sophomore

The Sharks drew first blood in the 24th minute when Arzberger scored on a free kick just beyond the top of the box, curving the ball around the defensive wall and past the keeper for the 1-0 lead.
But ART U quickly answered in the 28th minute. Breki Einarsson blasted a shot that Zielinski saved with a punch out, but the ball landed at the foot of Fannar Omarsson who popped it in for his first goal of the season and tied the contest at 1-1.
It took less three minutes for HPU to return the favor. After a quick save and a corner by the Sharks, HPU got the ball back as junior
Ryo Hirayama of Fukuoka, Japan took it to the left side of the box and crossed it to an open Garcia who scored his fourth goal of the season. It put the Sharks up to stay at 2-1 in the 31st minute.
HPU and ART U kept the score at 2-1 through a good portion of the second half. In the 73rd minute HPU put the ball in the net, but the officials ruled the Sharks were offside and nullified the score.
In the 77th minute, the Sharks got another chance, with Espinoza leading Garcia with a pass for a two-on-one run downfield. Garcia dumped it to Montgomery who scored for the 3-1 lead.
Arzberger put the match on ice in the 83rd minute. Espinoza got a run before feeding Arzberger, who blasted it past King and put the game away 4-1.
The Sharks finish the season on Saturday night, when they play host to Holy Names for senior night. The match is slated for 7 p.m. at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium, following the HPU-HNU women's game at 4:30 p.m.
