SHARKS MOTSCHMANN, KALTENBRUNN, BODIRSKY HONORED AS ALL-PACWEST
IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University placed three runners on the All-PacWest Conference teams as the league announced the 2019 Men's and Women's Cross Country Awards.

Jona Bodirsky made the men's team, while junior
Robyn Kaltenbrunn was honored on the women's team.
Motschmann, a 6-2 senior from Magdeburg, Germany/Sportgymnasium, was on the All-PacWest Men's Second Team after placing ninth at the PacWest Championships, running the men's 8-kilometer race in 25:52.00. Motschmann collected four individual championships this season in running for the Sharks, and was twice named PacWest Runner of the Week.
Bodirsky, a 5-9 freshman from Muhlhausen, Germany/Leibniz Gymnasium Ostringen, was named All-PacWest Third Team after finishing 20th in the PacWest Championships in a time of 26:35.16. Bodirsky was selected PacWest Freshman of the Week five times during the season.
Kaltenbrunn, a 5-6 junior from Johannesburg, South Africa/Benoni, was named All-PacWest Second Team after placing ninth in the women's 6-kilometer race at the PacWest Championships in 22:21.66. Kaltenbrunn won two individual championships during the season and was once named a PacWest Runner of the Week.
Two-time PacWest Conference Men's Champion Gabe Plendico of Biola was named the PacWest Runner of the Year, with James Young of Academy of Art the PacWest Newcomer of the Year, and Nixon Korir of Azusa Pacific the PacWest Freshman of the Year. Sean Henning of PacWest Champion Biola was honored as PacWest Men's Coach of the Year.
Women's PacWest Champion Hasna Kaarour of Academy of Art was voted the PacWest Runner of the Year, with Azusa Pacific's Sammy Bockoven the PacWest Newcomer of the Year and Fresno Pacific's Yorkabel Gebrewihot the PacWest Freshman of the Year. Ray Winter, who directed Fresno Pacific to the conference championship, was named the PacWest Women's Coach of the Year.
The Sharks compete on Saturday in the 2019 NCAA Division II West Regional Championships in Monmouth, Ore., at the Ash Creek Preserve. The women run at 8 a.m. HST (10 a.m. PST), followed by the men at 9:15 a.m. HST (11:15 a.m. PST).
