WAIPAHU, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific University took No. 17 Point Loma into overtime before PLNU scored a golden goal in the 96th minute to claim a 2-1 overtime PacWest Conference win on Friday afternoon at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
The Sharks (2-8-1, 1-3-1) held on against the No. 17 Sea Lions (10-0-1, 6-0) despite being outshot 32-2, taking the Senior Day game into overtime.
Point Loma's Abby Schmidt got the game winner off a double assist by Makenna Herrero and Hailey Clifford in the 96th minute to break a 1-1 tie.
The match was scoreless through halftime, but the Sea Lions struck in the 50th minute when Lauren O'Malley scored after a corner kick with assists from Alana Diaz and Schmidt.

Brittny Ihara of Pearl City, Hawai'i/Pearl City to make it 1-1.

Marissa Froio of Simi Valley, Calif./Royal had a career high 10 saves in her final contest at home against the 32 shots fired by Point Loma.
Sea Lion keeper Emma Hinson recorded one save and allowed the goal off of the two HPU shots.
The Sharks close the season with five straight road games, including a four-game Northern California road trip that starts on Tuesday at Dominican. Kickoff is slated for 9 a.m. HST (Noon PDT).
