IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University fell to Concordia Irvine in straight sets in PacWest Conference play on Friday evening at CU Arena.
The Sharks (4-17, 3-10) lost to the Eagles (14-6, 9-4) 25-20, 25-15, 25-13 for their third straight loss.
HPU as a team hit .133 with 1.0 team blocks, while the Eagles posted a .281 attack percentage with 4.5 team blocks.
Senior
Lauren Christie of Lebanon, Ore./Lebanon, led the Sharks with eight kills. Sophomore
Ella Dotson of Tucson, Ariz./Marana added seven kills with 10 digs. Freshman
Avery Percival of Riverside, Calif./King tallied 12 digs in the contest.
CUI got a double-double from Kirra Schulz who led the Eagles with 21 kills and a .350 attack percentage with 14 digs. Kennedy Farley posted 12 kills, a .320 hitting percentage and three blocks. Jalyssa Sanchez also tallied three blocks.
HPU and CUI battled through the first set with five ties and two lead changes. CUI broke a 15-15 tie with a 5-1 run. HPU closed it to within two points at 21-19, only to have the Eagles close the contest on a 4-1 run for the 25-20 win.
The Eagles continued their run in the second and third sets, allowing HPU one lead in the third before completing the sweep.
HPU closes its Southern California road trip on Saturday in San Diego, taking on Point Loma at Golden Gym. First serve is set for 11 a.m. HST (2 p.m. PDT).
