RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University's
Jona Bodirsky ran a personal best in finishing 10th individually as he led the HPU cross country teams at the 40th annual UC Riverside Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning on the UCR Ag/Ops Course.
Bodirsky, a junior from Rettingheim, Germany covered the men's 8 kilometer course in 24:13.6 to finish 10th overall, four minutes ahead of the rest of the Sharks who placed 23rd out of the 24th teams in the competition. HP scored 635 points and finished ahead of Westminster (Utah) in 24th with 748 points.

David Rutto of Eldoret, Kenya was 174th in 28:15.1, with junior
Troy Oshimo of Honolulu/Kalani 179th in 28:41.8, freshman
Logan Thomas of Tustin, Calif./Tustin in 178th in 31:09.6 and sophomore
Ian Beals of Anchorage, Alaska/West Anchorage in 188th in 31:44.9.
The HPU women finished 22nd as a team in the 22 team meet with a score of 660, led by super senior
Robyn Kaltenbrunn of Johannesburg, South Africa who was clocked on the women's 6 kilometer course in 23:06.3 to finish 116th.

Emma Dominguez of Whittier, Calif./California HS was the next Shark across the line in 157th in a time of 24:57.6, with senior
Maggie Meeds of Anchorage, Alaska/South Anchorage in 159th at 25:07.4, sophomore
Alyssa D'Arpa of North Potomac, Md./Wooton in 162nd at 25:38.3, freshman
Jacquelyn McEvoy of North Berwick, Maine/Noble in 167th at 26:03.6, junior
McKay Guckenberg of Eureka, Mont./Lincoln County in 169th at 26:18.3.
The Sharks are scheduled to run again next Saturday at The Master's Challenge hosted by The Master's University at Central Park in Santa Clarita, Calif., before hosting the HPU Sharks Invitational on Oct. 2 on the North Shore at the Kahuku Golf Course.
