Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Sharks Win Third Straight 1-0 in Irvine

Irvine, Calif. - The Hawaii Pacific University men's soccer team pulled out a 1-0 victory Monday night at Eagles Field.

The Sharks (6-4-2, 4-2-0 PacWest) are red hot with their third win in a row and jumped up to third in the PacWest standings to start the road trip.

Neither team found the net in the first half as they settled in for a defensive battle.

In the second half, shots were flying from both teams. HPU was on the attack and found themselves with a corner kick in the 60th minute. The ball found its way into the box where senior Dominic Toone had a shot saved, but graduate Gerrit Arzberger continues to find himself in the right place and scored the putback goal for his ninth on the season. The Shark's defense led the game the rest of the way for the 1-0 win.

Graduate Jeremy Zielinski added another clean sheet to his record while recording three saves in the contest. Arzberger remains on fire, scoring his sixth goal in his last four matches.

HPU has a travel day before their next road match against Azusa Pacific on Wednesday. Kick-off is slated for 4:30 pm HT.
