Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Falls 1-0 to the Sea Lions

SAN DIEGO - The Hawaii Pacific University women's soccer team traveled to San Diego to take on Point Loma Nazarene University Saturday morning. An early goal for PLNU earned them a victory over HPU, 1-0.

The Sharks (3-8-3, 2-5-1 PacWest) will continue their road trip in California, while the Sea Lions (10-2-4, 5-1-2 PacWest) have hit double-digit wins on the season.

The Sea Lions had much of the early game control. Their relentless offensive pressure led to the first goal of the game in the 26th minute. The Sharks were only able to find one shot opportunity in the half, despite that, their defense held strong to keep the game 1-0 going into halftime.

HPU fired off two shots in the first 16 minutes of the second half, as they looked to tie the game up. Neither of the shots found the net and the offensive pressure slowly started to dissipate. There would be one more shot attempt at the net in the 85th minute, but the Sharks were unable to tie the game as they were bested, 1-0.

Graduate goalkeeper Sophia Garrido added five saves to her season total.

The Sharks are back in action on Monday, October 31 where they will be taking on Biola University on the road. The match will be played at Al Barbour Field with kickoff set for 1:00 p.m. HST.
