Sharks Run to Victories on Senior Day

KAHUKU - The men's and women's ran away with victories on Senior Day in the HPU Sharks Invitational at Kahuku Golf Course.

The Sharks men's team started the early morning off on the right foot as they took four of the top five spots, including the top three. They earned 17 points in their first-place victory.

Graduate Justin Todd finished in front of the pack as he clocked in at 28:01.2. Senior Troy Oshimo came in 26 seconds later for a second-place finish at 28.27.0, while junior Kent Glover rounded out the top three at 28.37.0. Finishing 5th was junior Joseph Moran with a time of 29.41.5, and senior David Rutto sealed HPU's score as he finished 6th at 30.25.4.

Not to be outdone, the woman's cross-country team posted a perfect score, claiming the top five slots. Graduate Karen Corona-Perez took home another first place with a time of 21:21.0. Freshman Anna Hildebred and senior Maggie Meeds finished just seconds apart from each other at 21.34.1 and 21.36.2, respectively. Sophomore Emma Dominguez and junior Zamira Broadhurst-Hall completed the top 5 sweep with times of 21.42.9 and 21.47.5, giving the Sharks a perfect 15 points.

The Sharks will have some time off as they prepare for the Division II Pre-Nationals at University Place, Washington, on October 22nd at 7 a.m. HST.
