Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Sharks Drop 1-0 in Final Minute to Penguins

WAIPAHU - The Hawaii Pacific University, men's soccer team, lost in dramatic fashion 1-0 against Dominican University Thursday night at the Waipio Soccer Complex.

The Sharks (3-3-2) had their three-game win streak snapped by the Penguins (6-3-0), who grabbed a second win on their road trip.

It was a back-and-forth night in Waipahu as Dominican held the statistical advantage throughout the night over HPU. The Penguins outshot the Sharks 13-5, but graduate goalkeeper Jeremy Zielinski was fantastic with a season-high nine saves.

The Sharks acquired an 86th-minute red card that opened the door for Dominican. After Hawaii made an attempt to score, the Penguins launched a last-ditch counteroffensive, where they were able to squeeze one by in the final minute of the game to take a 1-0 victory.

The Sharks have the week off before cross-island UH Hilo comes to town on Sunday, Oct. 9, set to kick off at 3 p.m. HT.
