FRESNO, Calif. – The Hawai'i Pacific University women's volleyball team ended their second stop on their California road trip with their first victory of the season against Fresno Pacific. After dropping the first set 18-25, the Sharks dominated the last three sets with final scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 25-22.
Middle Blockers
Marley Sandoval and
Ella Schoene established control up at the net defensively for HPU as they anchored a front row that out-blocked the Sunbirds 9-3.
Tehani Pescaia had 16 assists and six digs, while Libero
Kylie Komo was all over the court, digging up great hits that led the Sharks with 13 digs.
Lindsey Tapp led the Sharks with a career-high 14 kills and an efficient .310 hitting percentage. Senior
Ella Dotson, who just passed 500 career kills against Academy of Art, added six more to her total.
HPU moves to 1-10 on the season and will wrap up their week with a drive back up north to play Dominican on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. (PST).
