Hawai‘i Pacific Falls 2-1 to Hawai‘i Hilo in Close PacWest Contest

Waipahu, HI – Hawaii Pacific University women's soccer team fought valiantly but fell short in a 2-1 loss to Hawaii Hilo on Saturday afternoon at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium. Despite a late goal by Lisette Almanza, the Sharks couldn't overcome Hawaii Hilo's second-half surge.

After a scoreless first half, Alyssa Padron opened the scoring for Hawaii Hilo (4-0-2, 1-0-0) in the 58th minute, assisted by Diana Garcia. Just four minutes later, Jazlynn Ellis doubled the lead, with Savina Zamborini providing the assist.

HPU (1-2-0, 1-1-0) responded late in the match, with Lisette Almanza finding the back of the net in the 90th minute, but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback.

Goalkeeper Lolo Retsky made two crucial saves during the game, helping keep the Sharks within striking distance.
