WAIPI'O, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific men's soccer (5–3–2, 2–3–0 PacWest) put on a thrilling offensive display on Saturday night at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium, pushing Azusa Pacific (4–5–1, 3–0–0 PacWest) to the wire in a 3–2 contest that showcased the Sharks' grit and attacking depth.
After the Cougars struck first in the 26th minute, HPU wasted no time responding after the break. Paul Norberg leveled the match just 35 seconds into the second half with a composed finish — his second goal of the season — swinging momentum back to the home side.
Azusa Pacific answered with two quick goals to regain control, but the Sharks refused to fade. Alexander Arguijo cut the deficit to one in the 81st minute off a sharp assist from Olle Ridelius, sparking a late surge that kept APU on its heels until the final whistle.
Goalkeeper Oliver Holt tallied three saves while the Sharks' back line fended off 10 corner kicks from the Cougars. HPU finished with eight total shots, including three on target, capitalizing on their second-half tempo and attacking cohesion.
Despite the narrow loss, the Sharks' two-goal second half and relentless energy reflect a team finding its offensive rhythm heading deeper into PacWest play.
