Box Score HONOLULU - Hawai'i Pacific University (5-1-2, 2-1) shut out Chaminade University (0-5,0-3) in a dramatic 4-0 spectacle on Saint Lewis Field at Chaminade University.
The Sharks were once again led to victory over the Silverswords by Aiea's own junior
Kelly Takara, who headed the first goal in the 32nd minute of play on a cross by graduate
Dennis Dinyer.
The next Shark to strike was freshman
Paul Norberg, who took advantage of a free kick caused by sophomore Jack Williams about ten yards outside the 18-yard box. Norberg's kick beautifully curved over the 'Swords wall and past the diving senior goalkeeper Jonah Valmonte to find the next through the bottom left corner in the 58th minute.
It was only 11 minutes later, in the 69th minute, when the Sharks continued their offensive onslaught to score their third goal of the day. Freshman
Anthony Najafi was able to defeat Valmonte with a one-two combo by recovering his own saved shot that Valmonte deflected and failed to secure.
Unsatisfied, the Sharks would continue to score a fourth and final goal in the 80th minute. The goal came after Norberg delivered a free kick from 39 yards out, which landed in a group of both Sharks and defenders. However, a quick header by Najafi to junior
Olle Ridelius was quickly passed to senior defender
Trey Gora, who put it in so quickly that Valmonte wasn't even able to turn.
Perhaps the best part of today's game is that the Sharks did not receive a single card.
The Sharks will finally be returning to home turf this Thursday, Oct. 9th at 3 p.m. as they take on the Lions of Vanguard University at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex on Field 5.
