HONOLULU, HI – Hawai'i Pacific women's soccer fell just short in a defensive battle against Chaminade on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 1–0 decision at Saint Louis Field.
After a scoreless first half that saw both sides trade chances, Chaminade broke through in the 63rd minute when Haley Mo'okini finished a pass from Brynn Shimabukuro for the lone goal of the match. Despite a late push, the Sharks (1-3-4, 0-1-3 PacWest) couldn't find the equalizer against the Silverswords (1-1-5, 1-1-2).
Freshman goalkeeper Skylar Jacobsen once again anchored the HPU defense, collecting six saves to keep the Sharks within striking distance. The back line absorbed steady pressure throughout the afternoon as Chaminade outshot HPU 20–5 and held a 7–0 advantage in corner kicks.
Offensively, the Sharks found a few looks on frame with Kalea Ajel and Ava-Rose Whitmer each creating early opportunities, while Abbey Glover added an attempt in the second half that sailed just wide.
The loss marks HPU's first in conference play but continued a stretch of tight, low-scoring contests that have showcased the team's defensive discipline. The Sharks will look to regroup and get back in the win column as PacWest action continues next week.
