Sharks Honor Seven Seniors at Senior Night

HONOLULU, Hawai'i — Hawai'i Pacific honored seven seniors on Saturday evening as the Sharks fell in their final match of the season against Menlo, 3-1.

The Sharks' offense was led by junior Sophia Cooper, powering through for 13 kills with a .500 hitting percentage, the team's most efficient output of the day. Peyton McBride added another strong performance with 6 kills at .333, while Chayse Hoon made a big impact off the bench, hitting .364 and contributing solid block touches.

Setter Lauren Harris quarterbacked the offense with 13 assists, added a kill of her own, and delivered two service aces to spark key scoring runs. Jordyn McCutcheon contributed a match-high 20 assists, keeping the Sharks' attack in rhythm throughout the night.

Defensively, libero Riley Komo was exceptional, anchoring the back row with 13 digs while handling heavy serve-receive pressure. At the net, HPU put up 10 block assists, highlighted by strong work from Ella Schoene, Sandoval, Tapp, Cooper, and Hoon, who helped slow Menlo's attackers and create transition opportunities.

The Sharks' best stretch came in the fourth set, where they hit a match-high .367, showing resilience and a late push that kept the home crowd loud and engaged. Across all four sets, HPU recorded 48 kills, nearly matching Menlo swing-for-swing and demonstrating some of their most efficient offense of the season (.214 overall).

Despite the 3–1 final, Head Coach Jenic Tumaneng was proud of his team, their fiery competitive edge, and numerous standout individual performances this season.

The night ended with tears in the eyes of fans and family members as Marley Sandoval, Lindsey Tapp, Kate Allan, Teiva Miller, Elizabeth Borgelt, Peyton McBride, and Riley Komo received their lei and were honored for their time playing as Sharks.

The Sharks end their season at 6-23 overall, with five of those wins happening in front of home crowds. Go Sharks!
