2025 Season
Maile Salang appeared in 27 matches, playing 79 sets for the Sharks. She recorded 319 assists, averaging 4.04 assists per set, along with 7 service aces. She added 126 digs (1.59 per set) and finished the season with 11.5 points.
Maile Salang joins the Sharks from De La Salle University Senior High School in Manila, Philippines. The 5-foot-9 setter is originally from Keizer, Oregon, and is pursuing a degree in Business Administration at Hawai?i Pacific.
Salang brings an accomplished athletic résumé to HPU after competing in both volleyball and track & field. She earned the McNary Celtic Award, Most Inspirational Player honors, Female Field Athlete of the Year recognition, and Sports Achievement Awards in volleyball and track & field. Internationally, she captured a gold medal with the Philippine National Volleyball Federation, helped the Philippine Women's U18 National Team earn a bronze medal at the Southeast Asian Championships, and won a bronze medal in discus at the Philippine Track and Field National Championships.
Salang chose HPU because of its commitment to providing a unique student-athlete experience within a diverse learning environment that aligns with her academic, athletic, and career goals. Outside of volleyball, she enjoys reading, photography, working out, listening to music, and learning new languages. Looking ahead, she hopes to become a successful businesswoman while representing the Philippine Women's National Volleyball Team.
