Fresno, CA - The Keehi Boys made the journey to Fresno where they competed in the PacWest tournament the past couple days. After a tough loss the first day to Point Loma, they never gave up and battled their way back with 2 huge wins against Biola and Point Loma to make the championship game where they fell to Westmont.

The Sharks headed into the tournament after a very successful regular season, going 30-20 with many players taking home PacWest awards. Noah Blythe won Player of the Year, hitting .462 with 24 doubles and 13 home runs, and setting both the single season hits and doubles record at HPU. Bronson Rivera took home Newcomer of the Year with a .378 batting average and hitting 16 home runs to set the single season record for HPU. Blythe and Rivera, and freshman sensation Tyler Arnold took home PacWest first team honors, while Daniel Johnson, Skyler Agnew, and Kan Taguchi took home second team honors.

Game 1

The Sharks had a rough start to the tournament. Tyler Arnold and Bronson Rivera both homered, while Daniel Johnson collected 3 hits, but it wasn't enough to match Point Loma's offensive performance as the Sharks lost 14-5.

Game 2

The Sharks got off to a slow start in their first elimination game against Biola. Headed into the 7th inning down 5-3 and their season on the line, HPU's offense did what they have done all year and put up a 7 run inning. They Sharks scrapped for the first 3 runs, taking the lead on a Daniel Johnson bunt, before Bronson Rivera smoked a 3 run homer to add on. From there the Sharks never looked back, winning 11-5.

Game 3

In an elimination game against Point Loma, the Sharks played their best game of the season. The Sharks faced adversity from the first inning but were not fazed and battled with Point Loma the entire game. Down 6-3 going into the 6th inning. Arnold and Rivera hit back to back home runs to make it a 1 run game. The offense didn't stop there as Skyler Agnew tied it up on an RBI single. Closer Ryan Inouye had the performance of a lifetime when it mattered most, he threw 3 perfect innings for the Sharks and was unhittable. With the winning run at 3rd base in the bottom of the 9th inning, Loma intentionally walked both Skyler Agnew and Noah Blythe to bring Daniel Johnson to the plate. Little did they know that he was the perfect man for the job as he hustled out a ground ball to the shortstop, diving into first base safely and walking it off for the Sharks and eliminating Point Loma.

Game 4

The Sharks faced off with Westmont in the championship game, and were on point the entire game, executing pitches and having solid at bats. Conor Hourigan was unhittable, going 4 innings out of the pen, and Noah Blythe hit a home run in the 6th to make it a 3-3 game. Unfortunately, the Sharks fell 5-3, but played yet another great game against a nationally ranked opponent. Ryan Inouye took home the pitcher of the Tournament award with his 3 inning no hit performance against Point Loma to get the Sharks to the championship game

Upon the conclusion of the PacWest Tournament, the Sharks will wait to see if they get an at large bid to the NCAA tournament. Throughout the year, HPU has proved again and again that they can go toe to toe with any team in the country and have a 30-15 record since the second week of conference play. They showed incredible grit and resilience in the tournament, going through a top team in the region to make it to the championship and do something that has never been done in the history of HPU.
