Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Takara Strikes Early as Sharks Stay Unbeaten with 1–0 Win Over Chaminade

WAIPAHU, HI – Hawai'i Pacific men's soccer stayed unbeaten on the season with a 1–0 victory over Chaminade on Tuesday night at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

The Sharks (3-0-1) struck early when Kelly Takara netted his third goal of the year in the sixth minute, finishing off a setup from Pedro Ashley to give HPU the only score it would need. The quick strike continued Takara's hot start to the season, while Ashley added his first assist of the campaign.

From there, HPU's defense took control. Goalkeeper Ralf Braun recorded two saves in his clean sheet effort, anchoring a back line that limited the Silverswords to just four total shots on the night. The Sharks matched their defensive grit with steady offensive pressure, earning eight corner kicks and forcing Chaminade to defend deep for much of the match.

Despite Chaminade pushing numbers forward late, HPU held firm to secure its third win in four matches to open the year. The result also marked the Sharks' second shutout of the season, continuing their strong defensive identity in nonconference play.
