San Rafael, Calif. — Hawai'i Pacific wrapped up its California road swing on a high note, earning an 83–77 victory over Dominican on Friday afternoon to improve to 8–4 overall and 4–3 in PacWest play. The Sharks controlled the first half, held off a late push from the Penguins, and delivered one of their most balanced offensive performances of the trip.
HPU built early momentum with a 43-point first half, attacking the paint and generating quality looks from the perimeter. The Sharks kept their composure in the second half as Dominican made a late surge behind 12 made threes, responding with timely stops and steady free-throw shooting to close the game out.
Quentin Meza led the Sharks with 20 points, six rebounds, and four assists, shooting 6-for-11 from the floor and converting seven free throws. Joshua West followed with 16 points, while Josh Niusulu added 13 points and six boards in another efficient outing. Nemanja Sarenac provided a spark off the bench with 11 points on 3-for-5 shooting from deep, and Quinton McCullough chipped in eight with four rebounds.
HPU shot 46 percent from the field, earned 35 trips to the free-throw line, and matched Dominican on the glass 35–35. The Sharks also received 24 bench points and committed just 11 turnovers in a controlled, disciplined performance.
With the win, Hawai'i Pacific returns home to the Shark Tank for a Thursday matchup against Menlo. The women tip at 4:30 p.m., followed by the men at 6:30 p.m.
