HONOLULU- Hawai'i Pacific University (11-4, 6-3 PacWest) protected the Shark Tank against Biola University (6-9, 2-7 PacWest), 78-65.
Joshua West and
Quentin Meza teamed up again lead the Sharks to a stunning victory. West put down 21 points on five threes, while Q-ball Meza drained seven two-balls and five free throws for his 19 points. Meza also contributed seven rebounds and a team-high five assists.
Once again, Head Coach
Jesse Nakanishi was able to show off his team's depth by sending in players like
Kemp Van Es and
Kahiau Bruhn, who both contributed to the 19 team bench points on the night. A total of 11 Sharks added points to the massive win.
The Sharks started slowly, allowing Biola to take a quick four-point lead early in the game. However, the Sharks got in gear after the under 16:00 media and took the rest of the game for themselves. The Sharks expanded their lead to as much as 22 points with eight minutes to go in the game, before switching to a clock-management offense. Defensively, the Sharks also flexed by keeping Biola to just 22 points in the second half.
The Sharks will ride this five game winstreak in this Thursdays game against Westmont, sitting at third in the PacWest conference standings, just two games behind Point Loma. The game tips at 6:30 p.m. and will be available to stream on the PacWest Network.
