COSTA MESA, Calif. — Hawai'i Pacific University Men's Basketball earned a statement road victory Saturday night, defeating Vanguard 74–62 at the Freed Center for Leadership and Service to improve to 13-6 overall and 9-5 in PacWest play.
The Sharks leaned on a dominant performance from Quentin Meza, who poured in a game-high 30 points while knocking down six three-pointers and going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Meza added five assists and two steals in 37 minutes, setting the tone on both ends of the floor.
HPU built a 36–32 halftime lead behind efficient shooting and strong ball movement, then maintained control in a tightly contested second half. The Sharks shot 44.8 percent from beyond the arc for the game, connecting on 13 three-pointers and generating 23 second-chance points.
Nemanja Sarenac added 12 points and seven rebounds, while Avi Halpert contributed 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including a pair of three-pointers. Zane Gaul provided a spark off the bench with eight points on a perfect 3-for-3 shooting night, and Maj Dusanic chipped in six points, six rebounds, five assists, and three blocks.
Defensively, HPU limited Vanguard to 29.6 percent shooting from three-point range and controlled the glass with a 40–29 rebounding advantage. The Sharks also dished out 16 assists and recorded six blocks as they withstood multiple lead changes throughout the contest.
With the win, Hawai'i Pacific secured a key PacWest victory and continued its strong push through conference play as the Sharks head into the next stretch of the season with momentum.
