Sharks Take Three of Four from Jessup Heading into Series Finale

HONOLULU — Hawai'i Pacific won three of its first four games against Jessup University over the weekend at Hans L'Orange Park, earning victories of 10-6, 3-2 and 13-8 as the series heads into Monday's finale.

Game 1: Hawai'i Pacific 10, Jessup 6

The Sharks set the tone early Saturday afternoon, responding to a first-inning Jessup run with four of their own in the bottom half. Christian Perez tied the game with an RBI single before Jayden Gabrillo delivered an RBI double to spark the rally. Owen Wessel added an RBI single to cap the frame and give HPU a 4-1 lead.

After Jessup evened the score in the second, Hawai'i Pacific broke it open in the third with five runs. Wessel drove in another run, Ethan Murakoshi ripped a two-run double, and Blake Helsper added an RBI double as the Sharks built a 9-4 advantage.

Jessup trimmed the lead to 9-6, but HPU added an insurance run in the eighth. Gabrillo earned the win on the mound, while Noah Rhea closed the door with 2.1 scoreless innings to record his second save of the season.

Game 2: Hawai'i Pacific 3, Jessup 2

Sunday morning's matchup turned into a pitchers' duel. Jessup struck first in the second inning, but HPU answered in the third when Helsper singled home Tyler Arnold to tie the game.

The Warriors regained a 2-1 lead in the fifth, but the Sharks responded immediately as Max Biehl scored on a wild pitch to even the score at 2-2.

The decisive moment came in the seventh. With the game tied, Gabrillo delivered a walk-off RBI single to center field, scoring Arnold and securing the 3-2 victory. Jacob Vanek earned the win in relief, allowing just one run over 3.2 innings.

Game 3: Hawai'i Pacific 13, Jessup 8

In Sunday's second game, the Sharks again showed resilience. Jessup built an early 2-0 lead and later pushed ahead 8-6 in the fourth inning, but Hawai'i Pacific responded with a six-run bottom half to seize control.

The rally featured RBI opportunities capitalized through patience and timely hitting, including a two-run single from Taydem Hashimoto that highlighted the inning. Tyler Arnold added a solo home run in the fifth to extend the lead to 13-8.

Eli Lipinski picked up the win in relief with two scoreless innings, and the Sharks held Jessup scoreless over the final three frames to secure the victory.

Hawai'i Pacific now sits at 7-9 overall and will look to finish the series strong in Monday's finale at Hans L'Orange Park.
