HPU Men’s Basketball Adds Two Impact Transfers to 2026-27 Roster

4/23/2026 12:10:00 PM

HONOLULU – The Hawai'i Pacific University men's basketball program has announced the signing of two major transfer additions to its 2026-27 roster with the commitments of Evan Kilminster (6'3 point guard) and Marino Dubravčić (6'10 center). The pair brings proven production, experience, and size to a Sharks team coming off an NCAA Division II National Tournament appearance.

"These are two difference-makers who address key needs for our program," said Jesse Nakanishi. "They each bring unique strengths, winning experience, and the type of character we value inside our locker room."

Evan Kilminster | 6'3 | Point Guard
Kilminster joins the Sharks as an experienced lead guard known for his pace, decision-making, and ability to elevate those around him. A proven playmaker at the collegiate level, he gives HPU another veteran presence in the backcourt and adds versatility on both ends of the floor.
"We're thrilled to have Evan join our program as an experienced, proven point guard at our level. His ability to connect a team will be a tremendous asset for us." – Jesse Nakanishi

"I chose HPU because of the trust Coach Nak and the coaching staff have in me to be a leader and a big part of this teams success. Being from Australia, I also wanted to be closer to home and Hawai'i can't get much closer, while also being a great place to live my last year in the US. I can't wait to have a great year and get to work with everyone! Go Sharks!" - Evan Kilminster

Marino Dubravčić | 6'10 | Center
Dubravčić arrives in Honolulu with high-level Division I experience after stops at Baylor University and University of Northern Iowa. The skilled big man brings size, physicality, and interior presence to the Sharks frontcourt. His addition gives HPU a true anchor in the paint on defense while adding another scoring option around the rim.

"I think HPU will be a perfect place for Marino to rejuvenate his playing career after his unfortunate injury. We can't wait to have him anchor our defense and provide an inside punch on offense." – Jesse Nakanishi
"I chose HPU because of the growing, winning culture and wanting to be a part of it. I can't wait to get back on the court with the guys who are staying and the newcomers and make some history! Go Sharks!" – Marino Dubravčić

Building on Momentum
The signings continue the momentum for an HPU program that has steadily climbed the ranks in the West Region while re-establishing itself as one of the premier programs in the PacWest Conference. With the additions of Kilminster and Dubravčić to an already talented core of returners, the Sharks are positioning themselves for another strong campaign heading into the 2026–27 season.

HPU will look to build on last year's success, carry that momentum into the new season, and make another push toward postseason play.
