Tursky, from Hillsborough, NJ, was born on February 27, 1990. His parents are John and Susan Tursky and he has an older sister, Kristin Tursky.
He graduated from Immaculata High School in 2008 as a member of the National Honors Society. He was a two-time varsity letterman in basketball and a four-time lettermen in golf. He was elected county golfer of the year as a junior (winning back-to-back county championships his junior and senior years), and elected First-Team All-State his senior year after finishing 2nd in the high school state tournament (lost in a playoff). Also in his senior year, his basketball team won the NJSIAA State Tournament and competed in the Tournament of Champions.
Tursky was a Big East Academic All-American at Rutgers, where received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, minoring in Psychology with a concentration in Sports Management. He was a member of the golf team for four years, and red-shirted his senior year after back surgery in the summer of 2011.
At HPU he is studying for a Masters in Communication while playing golf for the university. He attended HPU for the weather, the beach, the golf, the communication program, and of course to learn how to surf.
In his spare time he listens to music (Eminem, Meek Mill, Lil Wayne), plays basketball and writes (contributing to websites such as MTR-Media and GolfWRX).
